Ahaha, what am I doing up at 9:30am? I should be sleeping. XD
Anime Boston... man, I am exhausted and in so much pain but god it was all worth it.
Oh there were forces working against me. The bed was hard and pointy (stupid feathers!) and I couldn't really sleep. My foot acted up Saturday morning and I've been stubbornly hobbling around since then. (Nothing can stop me from shopping or going to awesome panels!) Also, if I see one more of these coats I will KILL someone. Jesus CHRIST people.
But anyway, let's see...
FRIDAY!
-Took the bus down at 10:30.
-Checked into the hotel, registered at the con, and made it to the dealers room around 12:30-1:00. Quickly realized that because I'm not a fan of Bleach, Naruto, Death Note, Code Geass, or Harui Suzumiya there wasn't much stuff I'd want to buy. Said to myself "Well at least I won't spend all my money, I guess."
-Was proven wrong when I discovered the dealer in the corner that sold all sorts of old anime stuff. Sailor Moon, Ranma 1/2, Urusei Yatsura, etc. Old, used and expensive merchandise. Was basically in my element because I don't understand these kids today and their ninjas and their shinigamis that aren't Duo Maxwell and their people with magic eyes and their pierced scrotums and their... uh... where was I? Anyway, saw a girl buying the two YST Memorial artbooks. Flailed and told her how jealous I was, so she pointed out they still had another copy of the first Memorial one.
-Spazzed, grabbed it, and agonized over the $60 price tag. Half my money on one item? That was a tense moment.
-Bought it. Squeed. Hugged it. Clung to it (so that my fingers cramped up) until I got back to the hotel room. Spent the weekend hugging it and sighing happily.
-Also bought a couple other things in the dealer's room: little female Ranma figure, Claymore figure (which turned out to be a silver Miria but I'm trading my sis for her regular Clare because she already has a big Clare figure), volume 15 of Video Girl Ai because it was $3, and a Claymore wallscroll. It's Teresa! It was also an insanely lucky find because almost all the wallscrolls were Bleach, Naruto, and Death Note. And a couple Azumanga Daioh. Anyway my sister found it for me so much love to her.
-Did something else. But what? Anime Hell wasn't until 10. I can't remember much except food shopping.
-Went to the Anime Hell panel. XD That was pretty funny. Basically just a bunch of weird videos. Bouncing Jesus may have been the best part. Gordon the ninja was also awesome.
-Almost fell asleep. Went back to the hotel room and DID sleep.
SATURDAY
-Woke up at 6 and couldn't fall back to sleep. (Stupid bed.)
-Went back to the dealer's room. Bought a bundle of Knights of the Zodiac- first 4 volumes for $18. Only read a little bit of the series before but though I'd give it a shot for that price. (Once again... living in the past.)
-Went back to the hotel room because my foot was starting to bother me. Had to stop and rest on the way because OW. Hung out there while other people went to concert and panel.
-Decided to ignore the foot and go hang out with people before the Veronica Taylor Voice Acting panel at 4:00. Played SSB, then hung out in a hallway and watched cosplayers walk by.
-Went to the panel for about 10 minutes before sis and Gutsy showed up (concert was over) and we decided to get dinner before the Claymore viewing.
-Claymore anime at 6:00! Discovered how annoying Raki can actually be. Also, did you know claymores are half human half yoma? This could not be repeated too many times.
-Left early to go to Bad Anime, Bad! panel. Which turned out to be one single anime: Dracula, Sovereign of... something. I forget. But it was HILARIOUS.
-Stayed for 9:00 Lame Anime panel which was possibly even better. Space Thunder Kids, Protectors of Universe, and the anime versions of Call of the Wild and Titanic were some of the things I got to see. Desperately want to own the one about anti-communism because this one scene made me laugh so hard I was crying, and then I snorted and could not stop laughing for like five minutes.
-Went back to the room while everyone else went to hentai panels. Planned to sleep (and enjoy having the bed to myself for an hour or two) but ended up watching tv, and then spending an hour looking through my new book. Slowly. Blissfully.
-Finally went to bed.
-Woke up around 2am when sis and Gutsy returned from the rave. JK had apparently met some guy and so we had to wait for her to come back because she didn't have a room key. Packed suitcases and watched whatever was on tv until she came back around 3:00.
-For some reason stayed up until 3:30 watched Death Note. And finally went to bed.
SUNDAY
-Woke up at 8. Went down to dealer's room one last time around 10. Spent $20 on cute stuff I didn't really need. (But I'm proud of myself. In the past I've spent MOST of my money on cute stuff I didn't need. I was careful this year.)
-Read volume 1 of Yurara in the manga library while waiting for sis and Gutsy to finish buying stuff so we could head back to the room and checkout. Decided I really like this series and may start buying it.
-Cosplay Chess at noon. Was enjoyable. Was the only non laugh-at-weird-crap thing I went to. (Seriously. Anime Hell. Bad Anime, Bad. Lame Anime. ONLY PANELS I WENT TO.) Got pretty weird at the end though. DID love when Aeris suggested Cloud use a pheonix down to bring Sailor Moon back to life. Discovered everyone loves Gary Oak.
-Went to Porter square because we can't go to Boston without stopping at Ittyo for a bento box. It was delicious. I miss it already.
-Thought we could make it the bus station to make the 5:30 bus. Spent about two hours on the T, back and forth between the red and green lines so that we could pick up our luggage back at the hotel and then get to the station. (Well, I waited at the T while everyone else got the luggage. Feet. Ow.)
-Arrived at South Station at about 5:32. Started studying the schedule- turned out there was no 6:00 bus on the weekend. Looked for 7:15 bus instead. Lots of confusion ensued in which we thought we'd be waiting for the 9:15 bus but it turned out the sign was just broken. 7:15 bus was still in existance.
-Home around 8:15. Re-acclimated myself with normal life. Got hungry and went to McDonald's around 10pm. Went to sleep after 11. For some reason got up at 9:30.
Cosplayers!
-Lots of Sailor Scouts. This was weird. I expected some, but there was definitely way more than the usual amount.
-Approximately 70 billion people wearing that Naruto jacket.
-Several dozen Final Fantasy cosplayers. Yuna, Cloud, Sephiroth, Vincent, and Rinoa were everywhere.
-FOUND CARDBO
-Lots of Lulus and C.C.'s from Code Geass. One pair had a Lloyd with them. Squee.
-Lots of FMA blue suit people.
-A couple seriously cool Ryuuks.
-Obligatory lazy L cosplayers.
-Lots of girls in generic lolita outfits.
-Super cute Rosalina!
-Awesome Team Rocket.
-Fantastic Majora's Mask group. They had music. They followed me everwhere the first two days.
-Ash, Misty, and various Pokemon were everywhere. I blame Veronica Taylor.
-Lots of Bleach cosplayers.
-Sushi roll.
-In four different places at different times: Sakura, Syaoran, Meilin(g?), Kero. They weren't even together.
-Saw several Jack Sparrows...?
-Didn't see a Claymore. D:
Random stuff
-People with stereos were not uncommon. Someone had Caramell Dansen playing- people would stop what they were doing and run after them, dancing. Strange pheonomen.
-Someone in the Masquerade line started blasting the Pokemon theme song. Everybody sang along. YOU TEACH ME AND I'LL TEACH YOU, POKEMOOOOON! GOTTA CATCH EM ALL!
-People really enjoy shouting MARCO. And other people really enjoy shouting POLO. Which was fine except when it was in the Cosplay Chess line outside of the MANGA LIBRARY.
That is about all I can recollect at the moment.
Can't wait till next year.
