I am in love and considering saving up for something I really don't need but really really want.

Okay, basically? The old YST/RW figures were totally superfug. I never had the desire to buy one.

But THIS. This I want bad. I'm also insanely happy that after Sunrise celebrated the show's 20 year anniversary by releasing the series, Bandai decided to do something like this. Sigh.

If you need me, I'll be over here pining away.

More classic Taboo.

According to Kevin, the larval form of a butterfly is a caterpie.
I may have out-gamer-dorked him with this, though:
(Word is established as a famous painter)
Me: "Picasso? Monet? Rembrandt?"
Kevin: "No! He... he cut off the side of his face."
Me: "Uhm oh my god I know it I just can't think of it. Gimme a hint about his name."
Kevin: "....uh... well have you ever played Final Fantasy 7?"
Me: "VAN GOGH!"
Allison: "What!?"

My train of thought seriously went FF7->Vincent->Van Gogh in about a millisecond.

Also, 'mailman':
"He comes to your house to bring you what you've been waiting for." ("Bow chicka wow wow!")

Oh MAN good times. Now to go to bed at 3:30am.

It's something you can keep in your purse that's fun just for you!

July 4th, 2009 (02:33 pm)

Yesterday was insanely fun. Me, Allison and JK went to Reeds Ferry after dark. There was insane fog and lots of mist thanks to the wet, muggy weather, and also fireworks going off in every direction like gunfire. The grass was so wet that at some points my feet ended up completely submerged in water- thank you, rubber flip flops.
We started on the playground, which was fun- tilting upside down on swings is like a serious natural high. Chased some lightning bolts. Looked off into the mist and listened to the pops and bangs of fireworks. It was actually pretty spooky. I was using a flashlight, which mostly just lit up the fog. We also ran across tons of little frogs, including a couple that were mating. XD I took a pic with my cell phone.
Then we walked to the soccer fields, which was probably the most surreal part of the night. Allison turned on the lights, and you couldn't see anything beyond the field- it was just MIST. It was seriously like "If you build it, they will come." We frolicked in the wet grass and had so much fun.
Tons of pictures were taken to commemorate the event. They're really cool-looking.

This is following all the other stuff we've been doing lately. Board games, video games, trips to the mall, adventures to Toys R Us where a super cool employee dug through the backroom just to find us silly putty.
Apparently silly putty is hard to find. We tried like five stores.

Taboo was pretty amusing (though not as much as Cranium). At one point I got the word "slammer", and the taboo words you couldn't say were all jail, prison, and the like. Which was just fine, because my first route was: "It's when you're playing pogs. The hard one."
Allison got it in about half a second. Go 90s kids!
Also: "They're hard and women want them!"

The answer: Diamonds.

So today is Independence Day. Happy birthday, America! I'm going to spend the afternoon and evening with JK and Allison. Food, fried dough, and fireworks! Take that, alliteration!

Nyeh! )

I suppose I should supplement that with an update on my life.
Well... my birthday was good. Went to the aquarium with JK and Allison, then to Ittyo for bento boxes.
More recently I've basically been spending every waking minute with those two. Yesterday was much needed day off to just chill.
Haven't gotten close to going to the beach. It's been raining for weeks, and temps have been 60s/70s. FUCK YOU NEW HAMPSHIRE.
Haven't even been writing much... though that's mostly thanks to Allison and JK.
Started playing Pokemon Platinum. Why are Pokemon games so amazing?
Kicked my summer class's butt. Whoo!

Wish I had the energy to participate in the Boys of Summer writing challenge for YST. Maybe I'd actually write something decent.

So when's Yamato gonna call on the armor of Halo?

June 15th, 2009 (06:27 pm)

So I took a stroll down memory lane today and watched various episodes of Digimon. XD In particular:

-Sub Zero Ice Punch. XD Good times, man. Gotta love the Taito.
-The one where Yolei slaps Ken and Darkwargreymon makes his first appearance. "I will take orders from no one!" Yeah I had this one taped and watched it over and over. Ken's little whimper was so CUTE and Darkwargreymon was so sexy. XD
-WORMMON BITS

Oh yeah... good times indeed. That show makes me feel like a pedo, though. XD I mean, god, how old are they? I was watching that episode where Oikawa is in the truck with all the children and kidnapped Ken (MAN that sounds sketchy.), and he's gonna scan the dark spore. "Just think of yourself as a box of cereal and I'm just scanning your barcode."
My first thought: "I'd scan his barcode anytime! Oh baby!"
Ahaha. Oh god.

I also ended up watching a bunch of YYH clips because Kurama's fights are the BEST. It's just like "Oh wait what's this? Kurama's going to lose? BAM DEATH PLANT."
Though the fight with Karasu is just brutal.

Space taxi... to the skyy!

June 10th, 2009 (09:36 pm)

It's amazing that I can go on Youtube thinking "I'm gonna go watch some Ronin Warriors because I'm feeling a little down thanks to tomorrow." It's been more than half an hour and so far I've watched:
-Whose Line clips
-Yugioh yaoi AMVs
-Yugioh/Aladdin crossover featuring "Never Had a Friend Like Me"
-Space Taxi

Curse you, "recommended videos"!

Last night was fun. Hey JK, let's go do some cocaine and Jenga.

Edit: And now I'm watching Digimon 02. GAH!

CAT SUE ME

May 25th, 2009 (10:33 am)

Ahaha, what am I doing up at 9:30am? I should be sleeping. XD
Anime Boston... man, I am exhausted and in so much pain but god it was all worth it.
Oh there were forces working against me. The bed was hard and pointy (stupid feathers!) and I couldn't really sleep. My foot acted up Saturday morning and I've been stubbornly hobbling around since then. (Nothing can stop me from shopping or going to awesome panels!) Also, if I see one more of these coats I will KILL someone. Jesus CHRIST people.

But anyway, let's see...

FRIDAY!
-Took the bus down at 10:30.
-Checked into the hotel, registered at the con, and made it to the dealers room around 12:30-1:00. Quickly realized that because I'm not a fan of Bleach, Naruto, Death Note, Code Geass, or Harui Suzumiya there wasn't much stuff I'd want to buy. Said to myself "Well at least I won't spend all my money, I guess."
-Was proven wrong when I discovered the dealer in the corner that sold all sorts of old anime stuff. Sailor Moon, Ranma 1/2, Urusei Yatsura, etc. Old, used and expensive merchandise. Was basically in my element because I don't understand these kids today and their ninjas and their shinigamis that aren't Duo Maxwell and their people with magic eyes and their pierced scrotums and their... uh... where was I? Anyway, saw a girl buying the two YST Memorial artbooks. Flailed and told her how jealous I was, so she pointed out they still had another copy of the first Memorial one.
-Spazzed, grabbed it, and agonized over the $60 price tag. Half my money on one item? That was a tense moment.
-Bought it. Squeed. Hugged it. Clung to it (so that my fingers cramped up) until I got back to the hotel room. Spent the weekend hugging it and sighing happily.
-Also bought a couple other things in the dealer's room: little female Ranma figure, Claymore figure (which turned out to be a silver Miria but I'm trading my sis for her regular Clare because she already has a big Clare figure), volume 15 of Video Girl Ai because it was $3, and a Claymore wallscroll. It's Teresa! It was also an insanely lucky find because almost all the wallscrolls were Bleach, Naruto, and Death Note. And a couple Azumanga Daioh. Anyway my sister found it for me so much love to her.
-Did something else. But what? Anime Hell wasn't until 10. I can't remember much except food shopping.
-Went to the Anime Hell panel. XD That was pretty funny. Basically just a bunch of weird videos. Bouncing Jesus may have been the best part. Gordon the ninja was also awesome.
-Almost fell asleep. Went back to the hotel room and DID sleep.

SATURDAY
-Woke up at 6 and couldn't fall back to sleep. (Stupid bed.)
-Went back to the dealer's room. Bought a bundle of Knights of the Zodiac- first 4 volumes for $18. Only read a little bit of the series before but though I'd give it a shot for that price. (Once again... living in the past.)
-Went back to the hotel room because my foot was starting to bother me. Had to stop and rest on the way because OW. Hung out there while other people went to concert and panel.
-Decided to ignore the foot and go hang out with people before the Veronica Taylor Voice Acting panel at 4:00. Played SSB, then hung out in a hallway and watched cosplayers walk by.
-Went to the panel for about 10 minutes before sis and Gutsy showed up (concert was over) and we decided to get dinner before the Claymore viewing.
-Claymore anime at 6:00! Discovered how annoying Raki can actually be. Also, did you know claymores are half human half yoma? This could not be repeated too many times.
-Left early to go to Bad Anime, Bad! panel. Which turned out to be one single anime: Dracula, Sovereign of... something. I forget. But it was HILARIOUS.
-Stayed for 9:00 Lame Anime panel which was possibly even better. Space Thunder Kids, Protectors of Universe, and the anime versions of Call of the Wild and Titanic were some of the things I got to see. Desperately want to own the one about anti-communism because this one scene made me laugh so hard I was crying, and then I snorted and could not stop laughing for like five minutes.
-Went back to the room while everyone else went to hentai panels. Planned to sleep (and enjoy having the bed to myself for an hour or two) but ended up watching tv, and then spending an hour looking through my new book. Slowly. Blissfully.
-Finally went to bed.
-Woke up around 2am when sis and Gutsy returned from the rave. JK had apparently met some guy and so we had to wait for her to come back because she didn't have a room key. Packed suitcases and watched whatever was on tv until she came back around 3:00.
-For some reason stayed up until 3:30 watched Death Note. And finally went to bed.

SUNDAY
-Woke up at 8. Went down to dealer's room one last time around 10. Spent $20 on cute stuff I didn't really need. (But I'm proud of myself. In the past I've spent MOST of my money on cute stuff I didn't need. I was careful this year.)
-Read volume 1 of Yurara in the manga library while waiting for sis and Gutsy to finish buying stuff so we could head back to the room and checkout. Decided I really like this series and may start buying it.
-Cosplay Chess at noon. Was enjoyable. Was the only non laugh-at-weird-crap thing I went to. (Seriously. Anime Hell. Bad Anime, Bad. Lame Anime. ONLY PANELS I WENT TO.) Got pretty weird at the end though. DID love when Aeris suggested Cloud use a pheonix down to bring Sailor Moon back to life. Discovered everyone loves Gary Oak.
-Went to Porter square because we can't go to Boston without stopping at Ittyo for a bento box. It was delicious. I miss it already.
-Thought we could make it the bus station to make the 5:30 bus. Spent about two hours on the T, back and forth between the red and green lines so that we could pick up our luggage back at the hotel and then get to the station. (Well, I waited at the T while everyone else got the luggage. Feet. Ow.)
-Arrived at South Station at about 5:32. Started studying the schedule- turned out there was no 6:00 bus on the weekend. Looked for 7:15 bus instead. Lots of confusion ensued in which we thought we'd be waiting for the 9:15 bus but it turned out the sign was just broken. 7:15 bus was still in existance.
-Home around 8:15. Re-acclimated myself with normal life. Got hungry and went to McDonald's around 10pm. Went to sleep after 11. For some reason got up at 9:30.

Cosplayers!
-Lots of Sailor Scouts. This was weird. I expected some, but there was definitely way more than the usual amount.
-Approximately 70 billion people wearing that Naruto jacket.
-Several dozen Final Fantasy cosplayers. Yuna, Cloud, Sephiroth, Vincent, and Rinoa were everywhere.
-FOUND CARDBO
-Lots of Lulus and C.C.'s from Code Geass. One pair had a Lloyd with them. Squee.
-Lots of FMA blue suit people.
-A couple seriously cool Ryuuks.
-Obligatory lazy L cosplayers.
-Lots of girls in generic lolita outfits.
-Super cute Rosalina!
-Awesome Team Rocket.
-Fantastic Majora's Mask group. They had music. They followed me everwhere the first two days.
-Ash, Misty, and various Pokemon were everywhere. I blame Veronica Taylor.
-Lots of Bleach cosplayers.
-Sushi roll.
-In four different places at different times: Sakura, Syaoran, Meilin(g?), Kero. They weren't even together.
-Saw several Jack Sparrows...?
-Didn't see a Claymore. D:

Random stuff
-People with stereos were not uncommon. Someone had Caramell Dansen playing- people would stop what they were doing and run after them, dancing. Strange pheonomen.
-Someone in the Masquerade line started blasting the Pokemon theme song. Everybody sang along. YOU TEACH ME AND I'LL TEACH YOU, POKEMOOOOON! GOTTA CATCH EM ALL!
-People really enjoy shouting MARCO. And other people really enjoy shouting POLO. Which was fine except when it was in the Cosplay Chess line outside of the MANGA LIBRARY.

That is about all I can recollect at the moment.

Can't wait till next year.

Staaar Trekkin' across the universe, on the starship Enterprise under Captain Kiiirk

May 21st, 2009 (09:32 pm)

So I totally went and saw the Star Trek movie. I wasn't originally going to because I know nothing about the original series but numerous people have told me it was OMGAWESOME even if you know nothing about Star Trek, and you know what?
It WAS OMGAWESOME. It was fabulous. <3
(But the Wolverine movie still remains the only film to end and leave me wanting more. I know all the elitist are pissed about this and that but I LOVED it.)

I been meaning to mentioned dreams I had... I forgot one of them though.
But last week I had this dream where there was a portal to an underwater world in my kitchen. When I went through it I met Pocahontas and she gave me a little plastic disc that let me breathe underwater. The weird thing was, people weren't mer-people... like, no fish tails. Huh. Anyway, then Arago came and closed the portal because he's an ASSHOLE.

Then last night I dreamed that I was friends with Cyclops from the X-Men movies. (As in like, it was James Marsden AS Cyclops. It was Cyclops, not James Marsden, but it looked like him? Does that make sense?) So was hanging out with JK and he comes over and is all like "Hey what's up."
And he was wearing a thong.
And me and JK are like exchanging these "DO YOU SEE THIS?" glances but he finds totally nothing wrong with it. XD
I will not lie. It was hot.

Anyway, tomorrow I'm off to Anime Boston and I am like super mega super excited and cannot wait. YAY

See y'all Sunday night.
